Château de Puissentut Wedding — Nikki & Richard
Nikki and Richard’s Château de Puissentut wedding brought together a ceremony beneath old stone arches, portraits in the courtyard and a relaxed outdoor meal with their guests. I photographed their day in summer 2025, following the moments as they unfolded in this corner of the French countryside.
The photographs tell a story full of movement: Nikki walking down the steps with her bouquet, hands held during the vows, a kiss surrounded by friends, and the two of them lifted into the air on the lawn. Alongside those lively moments, there was space for quieter portraits in the shade.
A wedding ceremony beneath the stone arches
The old pigeonnier gave the ceremony its own character. Wooden chairs faced an open stone arch, with trees and summer light beyond. The setting framed Nikki and Richard without taking attention away from them.
Nikki’s full white skirt and Richard’s light-coloured suit stood out against the weathered stone and green surroundings. They read their vows, exchanged rings and held hands, with their celebrant beside them and their guests close by. From the wider view beneath the timber roof to the small gestures between them, these photographs follow the ceremony from several perspectives.
Celebrating with their guests
After the ceremony, everyone gathered around Nikki and Richard. There were cheers, kisses and plenty of laughter as they made their way between their guests. Outside the château, the group photographs quickly became a celebration of their own.
These are some of the moments I look for when photographing a wedding: the reactions around the couple, the unexpected movement and the people enjoying being together. They sit alongside the portraits to give the story its sense of life.
Wedding portraits around Château de Puissentut
For the portraits, the stone arches offered soft shade and a quiet backdrop. A wider photograph shows Nikki and Richard within the architecture; closer frames bring the attention back to their expressions and the way they hold each other.
The courtyard and the lawn gave the sequence a different feeling, with the château’s timber details, greenery and sunlit façade in the background. Nikki’s dress moves through these photographs, from a twirl in the courtyard to a walk across the grass together.
A bouquet toss and an outdoor wedding reception
Back on the lawn, Nikki threw her bouquet to a waiting group of guests. The reception tables were set outdoors with pale fabric runners, glassware and small vases of yellow flowers. Parasols cast shade over the meal, with the château behind the gathering.
A change of dress and time to dance
For the evening, Nikki changed into a short dress. Sunglasses and playful portraits outside the reception space set the tone for the next part of the day. Inside, the photographs move straight into dancing, with their guests gathered around them.
From the first vows beneath the arches to the energy of the dance floor, this is the story of Nikki and Richard’s wedding as I photographed it: the setting, the small gestures and the people who filled it with life.
