As a wedding photographer specializing in Monserrate Palace in Sintra, I am passionate about capturing the magic of Sintra elopements and intimate weddings.
One adventurous couple from Australia chose Sintra for their destination elopement in Portugal. After considering various locations, they found the whimsical atmosphere of an old chapel ruin perfect for their outdoor ceremony.
Getting ready, preparations in Lisbon
Their preparations took place in a charming 18th-century house in Lisbon’s Baixa district, featuring original Portuguese tiles. Following an intimate first look at this historic house, we visited the Vandelli Botanical Garden in Lisbon, for some portrait shots. The second part of their elopement portraits took place on the stunning cliffs of Cascais, before Monserrate Palace in Sintra for their ceremony among the chapel ruins.
Wedding ceremony in Sintra
The ceremony at Monserrate Palace’s gardens was both magical and emotional, even as rain appeared. The couple embraced the moment with love and joy, undeterred by the weather. Nikki’s incredible wedding dress from Gemy Maalouf was perfect for the ruins. Some of my favorite moments included the heartfelt vows and exchange of rings under the arches. When the rain paused, we moved inside Monserrate Palace, where I captured beautiful moments among the columns and in the music room. I truly love photographing elopements.
